Blame Thaksin

Regarding the letter to the editor by Aik Lone [“Mean Thai Policy”; January 29, 2009]:

It was Chavalit, later, a crony of Thaksin, who boosted up the SPDC government during the failed 8888 uprising. He invested in Burma for his own business. The money boosted the SPDC coffers which were running dry at that time and the SPDC was able finish off the uprising. Later the democrat was strict in dealing with the SPDC. It was Thaksin who lent low-interest money to the SPDC to boost his own telecom business. The money was used to boost the telecom business in Burma, belonging to the offspring of the SPDC. When Thaksin became prime minister, his first pilgrimage was to Burma and so was his protégés, Samak and Somchai. It was Thaksin who suppress the refugees and dissidents living along the border.

Cry Babies

Regarding the article, “‘Illegal Immigrants’? Who’s Threatening Whom” [January 29, 2009; URL: http://www.irrawaddy.org/article.php?art_id=15025]:

Well, they have every right to do whatever they want and I don’t see any reason for you to cringe or becoming a crying baby. Get real!

Burmese Not Fit to Drive

Regarding the article, “Suu Kyi, Gambari Likely to Meet: NLD” [January 29, 2009; URL: http://www.irrawaddy.org/article.php?art_id=15029]:

Myanmar [Burma] will get freedom when our people have enough knowledge to handle it. I am also one of the citizens of Myanmar but I want our nations’ leaders to think back whether we are ready to discipline ourselves as we fight for freedom. Parents never want to buy a vehicle for a child who can not drive, for he will lose his life. The same way if we are not fit with freedom we will not enjoy it.

Cry Freedom

Regarding the article, “Burma Talk” [December 1, 2003; URL: http://www.irrawaddy.org/article.php?art_id=3212]:

One day, we will have freedom.

Don’t Hide Under the Table!

Regarding the article, “Danish Minister Visits Burma” [January 28, 2009; URL: http://www.irrawaddy.org/article.php?art_id=15022]:

Burmese people are pitiful people, whether they are soldiers or common people, whether they have power or do not have power. They all are poor and pitiful people. They all need help. After Nargis they need help urgently. But, the world could not help much. The approach was not correct and the approachers did not understand the under table business of the whole Burma. Under the table might not cost much if we wanted to help those who were in need. You need to throw your bread into the water and you will find it again. We have only two kinds of people: soldiers and common people. You can not ignore any one of them if you want to help. If you give cake to the soldiers you can give bread to the common people. Both will like to get. It seems to me that Danish and Norwegian became to understand this. Do not let the opposition group shout too much from Oslo. Just come and help. Now is the time to invest for the future of your country and also the country of Burma. There are many peace groups who are fed up with fighting. While you help the soldiers you do not forget them—also they were once soldiers. The government will like you help those peace groups. But, do not forget under table. The whole country will be benefited from you. And you will become good friends of them.

Karen State, California?

Regarding the article, “‘Second Chance City’ Welcomes another Leading Burmese Monk” [January 28, 2009; http://www.irrawaddy.org/article.php?art_id=15019]:

Nothing is wrong with the monks who were the spearheads in the Saffron Revolution, seeking a third country for resettlement. They might follow the steps that the former students, who were the leaders in 8888 revolution, resettled mostly in USA. It is similar to the KNU hard-cores that resettled in Bakersfield in CA.
