Friday, January 30, 2009 Blame Thaksin Regarding the letter to the editor by Aik Lone [“Mean Thai Policy”; January 29, 2009]: It was Chavalit, later, a crony of Thaksin, who boosted up the SPDC government during the failed 8888 uprising. He invested in Burma for his own business. The money boosted the SPDC coffers which were running dry at that time and the SPDC was able finish off the uprising. Later the democrat was strict in dealing with the SPDC. It was Thaksin who lent low-interest money to the SPDC to boost his own telecom business. The money was used to boost the telecom business in Burma, belonging to the offspring of the SPDC. When Thaksin became prime minister, his first pilgrimage was to Burma and so was his protégés, Samak and Somchai. It was Thaksin who suppress the refugees and dissidents living along the border. I am also one of the citizens of Myanmar but I want our nations’ leaders to think back whether we are ready to discipline ourselves as we fight for freedom. Parents never want to buy a vehicle for a child who can not drive, for he will lose his life. The same way if we are not fit with freedom we will not enjoy it. Thierie

They might follow the steps that the former students, who were the leaders in 8888 revolution, resettled mostly in USA.
